Glenda Mackie
Glenda Mackie was awarded a scholarship to Tisch School of the Arts, NYU where she received her B.F. A. in dance. She then returned to her hometown of Raleigh where she served as dance director at Arts Together, Inc. for almost 20 years and directed the Rainbow Dance Company from 1990 to 2004. She was a founding member of the collaborative Even Exchange Dance Theater and performed with the improvisational quartet THEM. Glenda followed her passion for arts education and taught dance and whole-body wellness at Enloe High School in Raleigh from 2007 to 2016.
Her love of movement has fueled extensive study in contact improvisation, Body Mind Centering, Feldenkrais technique, Alexander technique, Tai Chi, and Yoga. She is an RYT500 certified yoga teacher and teaches yoga at Arts Together and Blue Lotus. Glenda is an A+ Fellow since 2014, training teachers to integrate the arts into their core curriculum. She is passionate about guiding her students to unapologetically and authentically take up space and to connect with their embodied wisdom.
